Happy 2010 from Built Studios!

2009 was full of transition - including moving temporarily to Eugene, starting the track for my MArch at the U of O, and going from being a professional to a student again. Interested in my early work as an architect. Take a look. On the non-architecture front, we finished out the year with some strong projects, including some collateral material, identities, and a packaging project. The new year is starting with a handful of new clients and some exciting projects in the hopper.

What a busy season, summer has come and gone. I’ve successfully settle myself and my business here in Eugene. I continue to work with my existing clients as well as making a few local contact. Take a look at my most recent identity created for Jessica Wilson, a sports nutritionist. I wouldn’t say that Eugene is as design savvy as Portland, but there are some good opportunities with the University here. There is something sweet about living in a smaller town for a bit.

I’ve also been wrapping up a design phase for another large website project. More information will come when the website launches.

Built Studios is moving! We’re moving our operations down to Eugene Oregon. I’ll be attending graduate school for architecture this summer. Don’t be alarmed, I’ll continue to work with my existing client base as well as hoping to gain new Eugene-based clients.

The trend continues…the majority of work lately has been websites for local restaurants and start-ups. In the works is a website for ice cream maker, Chad Draizin (also my studiomate), an updated site for Oregon Microenterprise Network, as well as an updated site for Detour Cafe.

So far March has been filled with designing websites and interviewing with potential new clients. There are a few exciting project that we’ll be bidding on this month, we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Chad Draizin of Fifty Licks (he makes handmade ice cream) is now sharing a studio space with Built. We’ve had the chance to participate in some yummy ice cream tastings as he is refining his ice cream base.

Its been a busy February here at Built Studios. I’ve completed my furniture pieces for Project Chaboo. The completed pieces (and goofy pictures of me) can be viewed here and as well as here. This weekend I had the pleasure of biking around Portland with a few friends visiting modern homes on the 11x Designs tour. I appreciated seeing the buildings in the different stages of development. Kudos to all the local architects that participated.

This week I am busy working on packaging for a friend who sells seaweed that is hand-harvested off the Maine seashore, look for She Sells Seaweed packaging soon. I’m also putting the finishing touches on some web materials for Sustainable Harvest and some weekly ads for Blue Sage Cafe.
