Happy summer (well…almost)! It’s been a busy 9 months here at Built Studios. With the turn of the new season we’re excited to be developing a new line of housewares that merges both science equipment with natural materials of cork and wood. Sketches and process images soon! Also, in the works, I’ll be taking a MIG welding class with a fellow design colleague Kari Merkl later this month, I’m excited to be learning a new fabrication skill. That’s it for now. Pictures of recent wedding invitation projects coming soon!

I’m back. Built Studios moved back to the lovely city of Portland in April. I’ve been busy with two terms of architecture classes and loads of new projects for Built. In May, FilzFelt approached me to be a highlighted designer at their booth at ICFF. They blogged about it here. Its been a few years since I attended the show, I’m hoping this to go in 2011. Below you’ll find my new work.
Sustainable Harvest // World Barista Forum identity & print collateral
Sattva // identity & business cards for this new startup in the food industry
Cocova // packaging for prototype beverage bottles
Barre3 // packaging for coconut water sold at international yoga studio Barre3
OMEN // logo for the 2010 Entrepreneurial Summit as well as numerous print collateral
the 2 of you // I’ve been working with Richard Clayton and his team from San Francisco to nail down a prototype for this interactive relationship site

Happy 2010 from Built Studios!
2009 was full of transition – including moving temporarily to Eugene, starting the track for my MArch at the U of O, and going from being a professional to a student again. Interested in my early work as an architect. Take a look. On the non-architecture front, we finished out the year with some strong projects, including some collateral material, identities, and a packaging project. The new year is starting with a handful of new clients and some exciting projects in the hopper.

What a busy season, summer has come and gone. I’ve successfully settle myself and my business here in Eugene. I continue to work with my existing clients as well as making a few local contact. Take a look at my most recent identity created for Jessica Wilson, a sports nutritionist. I wouldn’t say that Eugene is as design savvy as Portland, but there are some good opportunities with the University here. There is something sweet about living in a smaller town for a bit.
I’ve also been wrapping up a design phase for another large website project. More information will come when the website launches.

Built Studios is moving! We’re moving our operations down to Eugene Oregon. I’ll be attending graduate school for architecture this summer. Don’t be alarmed, I’ll continue to work with my existing client base as well as hoping to gain new Eugene-based clients.
The trend continues…the majority of work lately has been websites for local restaurants and start-ups. In the works is a website for ice cream maker, Chad Draizin (also my studiomate), an updated site for Oregon Microenterprise Network, as well as an updated site for Detour Cafe.

So far March has been filled with designing websites and interviewing with potential new clients. There are a few exciting project that we’ll be bidding on this month, we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Chad Draizin of Fifty Licks (he makes handmade ice cream) is now sharing a studio space with Built. We’ve had the chance to participate in some yummy ice cream tastings as he is refining his ice cream base.
